Wattage chart

What Wattage Works for You?

CFLs use about 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs and LEDs use 80% less. So when you buy them, choose a wattage that’s about one-fourth of what you usually buy for incandescent bulbs. Always refer to the lumen – or lighting – output on the product package as your guide. For example, if a 60-watt incandescent bulb puts out 800 lumens, to get the same amount of light look for a CFL or LED replacement that emits 800 lumens or more.
