You deserve the optimal efficiency your new air conditioner was designed to provide, and our participating registered contractors can help you do this by performing a quality installation. In addition, you can receive up to $500 cash back!

Starting June 14, 2010, customers replacing an existing air conditioning unit that qualifies can earn an additional $500 with our Trade-in rebate! If your current air conditioning system is old or in need of minor repairs, there has never been a better time to upgrade your existing AC unit and replace it with a new, qualifying high-efficiency unit. Now you can earn two rebates---$500 for trading in your old, qualifying AC unit and an additional rebate for installing a new, qualifying high-efficiency unit!




Eligibility
The installation property must be located in Colorado and receive residential electrical service from Xcel Energy to qualify for the rebate. Rebates are given only to customers whose central air conditioner or air source heat pump was installed by a contractor who is a registered participant in Xcel Energy's cooling program. The application deadline for units installed between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2010 is July 31, 2011.

Xcel Energy does not guarantee the contractors' expertise or reputation; does not warrant any of the products or services installed; or promote the use of one contractor over the other. Xcel Energy shall have no liability for contractors' work or negligence. Xcel Energy will not rebate equipment that has been mislabeled or misrepresented. Participants are not eligible to receive a rebate for an improvement previously earned through a different Xcel Energy rebate program.

 

Extend the life of your AC system with a central AC tune-up. If your AC system’s efficiency is improved by 10 points or more, Xcel Energy will pay $150 toward your tune up service! If your central AC system is five years old (or older), chances are your system is using more energy than necessary and not meeting your comfort needs. An AC tune-up can help you stay cool, save money and extend the life of your AC system.

Eligibility:

Please Note: The Central AC tune-up program is available to Xcel Energy residential electric service customers located in the Denver Metro and Boulder areas of Colorado. Currently we have a limited number of qualified technicians who can perform the AC tune-up service. If the program is successful, we will expand the program to other Colorado areas served by Xcel Energy. Eligible equipment includes residential central air conditioning systems that are at least five years old and are in working condition. Please note that heat pumps, window units, ductless mini-split systems (AC and heat pumps) and rooftop units do not qualify for this program. The AC tune-up service must be completed by an Xcel Energy registered technician between March 15, 2010 and October 15, 2010 to be eligible and a similar Xcel Energy tune-up must not have not been performed in the past five years. Note that the outdoor ambient temperature must be 55 degrees F or warmer in order to perform the tune-up. The point system is based on an Efficiency Index (EI), which establishes the efficiency of your AC system before and after the tune up is completed.

Trained and certified technicians use state-of-the-art computer diagnostic technology to measure the efficiency of your AC system and take steps to improve it. Your technician will let you know during the tune-up if your tune-up qualifies for the $150. Xcel Energy will pay $150 directly to the participating contractor and there is no paperwork for you to complete, your technician will submit all the required information to Xcel Energy. For only $60 ($150 value) for a Standard Audit, a contracted professional visits your home to identify energy efficiency opportunities, prioritize and develop a plan of action.

A Home Energy Audit begins with a review of your attic, insulation, doors, windows, furnace or boiler, appliances and more. It identifies energy waste in places such as:
• Drafty windows
• Insufficient insulation
• Humidity problems
• Inefficient appliances
• Poor ventilation
• Inefficient heating & cooling systems

The standard audit usually takes about two hours and is conducted at a time convenient for you. Audit results may include recommendations for new appliances, or upgraded heating or cooling equipment. When you choose to make these improvements, Xcel Energy can help you reduce your costs.

There are three types of audits: Standard Audit ($60), Blower Door Audit ($90) and Infrared Audit ($120). A Blower Door or Infrared Audit is required to qualify for the Home Performance Rebates program.

The Evaporative Cooling Rebate program makes purchasing a high-efficiency evaporative cooler more affordable! You'll increase your home's energy efficiency and stay cool and comfortable all summer long.

How it Works

Purchase and install a qualified Evaporative Cooling unit from a participating retailer between January 1, 2010, and December 31, 2010, and receive a rebate of up to $500.

Qualified evaporative cooling units are available from local retailers such as Ace Hardware, Lowes, Home Depot, McGuckins Hardware or Sutherlands.

You may download an application or call 1-800-895-4999 to request rebate form #1524. Either way, please be sure to keep a copy for your records.

Limit one rebate per household. You must purchase and install your evaporative cooling unit prior to submitting the rebate application. Look for your rebate check approximately six to eight weeks after we receive your completed application.

*Customers are not required to purchase a qualifying unit from a participating evaporative cooling retailer or dealer to be eligible for a rebate. However, participating dealers are familiar with program requirements and typically have rebate applications available.

We will only rebate according to the current approved list.

Rebates are not offered for ancillary equipment such as hoses, drain pans, etc. Xcel Energy reserves the right to end this program or withdraw this rebate offer at any time. Units must be permanently installed direct, indirect or two-stage units. This offer is subject to change or cancellation.

 

Your late-model furnace or boiler could fetch you some current-model cash.

Natural gas customers in Colorado can earn rebates as high as $120 with the purchase and installation of new energy-efficient natural gas furnaces or boilers. You'll notice sizeable savings on your energy bills throughout the lifetime of your equipment.

Three Easy Steps

1. Buy a new, qualifying furnace or boiler from a heating and cooling contractor.
2. Get the Heating Rebate application from your heating and cooling contractor, or download the form here.
3. Complete and mail in the rebate application. Make sure to attach your dated invoice.




Combination boiler/water heater units are not eligible for rebates at this time.

Take a whole-house approach to energy savings and home improvements. This program is ideal for homeowners who need to make multiple improvements to their home. To participate, you must:
• Receive residential natural gas and electric service from Xcel Energy
• Complete a Standard Home Energy Audit with Blower Door ($90 fee) or Infrared Audit ($120 fee) through Xcel Energy
• Use an install contractor from our Participating Install Contractor List
• Implement at least five improvements - three mandatory and two optional
• Complete final inspection and provide all receipts to our audit partners

Note: If you have already earned a rebate through a different Xcel Energy program, you cannot receive another rebate for the same improvement.

Our Insulation Rebate program offers our natural gas heating customers and our electric heating customers in Colorado rebate incentives for installing insulation in their homes, including insulation for attics and walls, air sealing and weather-stripping of residential homes. Rebates equal to 20% of the total cost of the insulation and installation up to a maximum rebate of $300.
