The Evaporative Cooling Rebate program makes purchasing a high-efficiency evaporative cooler more affordable! You'll increase your home's energy efficiency and stay cool and comfortable all summer long.

How it Works

Purchase and install a qualified Evaporative Cooling unit from a participating retailer January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2012, and receive a rebate of up to $600.

Qualified evaporative cooling units are available from local retailers such as Ace Hardware, Lowes, Home Depot, McGuckins Hardware or Sutherlands. 

You may download an application, visit your local retailer and ask for Xcel Energy’s Evaporative Cooling rebate application*,  or call 1-800-895-4999 to request rebate form #1524. Either way, please be sure to keep a copy for your records.

Limit one rebate per household. You must purchase and install your evaporative cooling unit prior to submitting the rebate application. Look for your rebate check approximately six to eight weeks after we receive your completed application.

Find a registered contractor.

*Customers are not required to purchase a qualifying unit from a participating evaporative cooling retailer or dealer to be eligible for a rebate. However, participating dealers are familiar with program requirements and typically have rebate applications available.

We will only rebate according to the current approved list.

Rebates are not offered for ancillary equipment such as hoses, drain pans, etc. Xcel Energy reserves the right to end this program or withdraw this rebate offer at any time. Units must be permanently installed direct, indirect or two-stage units. This offer is subject to change or cancellation.

 

Your late-model furnace or boiler could fetch you some current-model cash.

Natural gas customers in Colorado can earn energy rebates as high as $120 with the purchase and installation of a new high-efficient natural gas furnace or $100 with the purchase and installation of a new high-efficient natural gas boiler. You'll notice sizeable savings on your energy bills throughout the lifetime of your equipment.

Three Easy Steps

1. Buy a new, qualifying high-efficiency furnace or boiler from a heating and cooling contractor.
2. Get the Heating Rebate application from your heating and cooling contractor, or download the form here.
3. Complete and mail in the rebate application. Make sure to attach your dated invoice.

Combination boiler/water heater units are not eligible for rebates at this time.

Qualifying residential customers who purchase and install a new, eligible central air conditioner from one of our registered contractors may receive up to $1,000 cash back.

The High Efficiency Cooling Rebate program is designed to generate maximum energy savings for you by focusing on proper installation practices. Bigger is not always better---participating Xcel Energy contractors are expected to size your new cooling equipment appropriate to your home's needs. You deserve the optimal energy efficiency your new air conditioner was designed to provide, and our participating registered contractors can help you do this by performing a quality installation.

Eligibility
The installation property must be located in Colorado and receive residential electrical service from Xcel Energy to qualify for the High Efficiency Cooling rebate. Rebates are given only to customers whose central air conditioner or air source heat pump was installed by a contractor who is a registered participant in Xcel Energy's cooling program. The application deadline for units installed between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012 is July 31, 2013.

About the Program

Our Insulation Rebate program offers our natural gas heating customers and our electric heating customers in Colorado rebate incentives for installing insulation in their homes, including insulation for attics and walls, air sealing and weather-stripping of residential homes. Rebates equal to 20% of the total cost of the insulation and installation up to a maximum rebate of $300.

It's a very cool program from Xcel Energy designed to manage air conditioning use during the hottest days of the year! Earn $40 easily. All you do is sign up below...you'll receive a $40 credit on your energy bill in October each year you participate! We'll do everything. Once you sign up, Xcel Energy will attach a small device to your central AC unit outside of your house that cycles it on and off for short intervals during the hottest days. You don't even need to be home for the installation.

Your furnace fan stays on, circulating cooled air; so chances are you won't even notice Saver's Switch working. But if you feel your comfort has been compromised, you are free to opt out of the program at any time.

Did you know that the second largest energy user in the home is typically the water heater? Our water heater rebates put cash in your pocket now and offer energy savings throughout the lifetime of the equipment. Rebates are available for standard, tankless or heat pump water heaters. Xcel Energy offers five tiers of water heater rebates.

Rebates up to $450 are available to Xcel Energy residential customers buying qualifying, new high-efficiency, natural gas or electric water heaters. In 2011, we added an electric heat pump water heater option for electric only Xcel Energy customers.
