Natural gas customers in Minnesota can earn energy rebates as high as $250 with the purchase and installation of a new high-efficient natural gas furnace or $100 with the purchase and installation of a new high-efficient natural gas boiler. You'll notice sizeable savings on your energy bills throughout the lifetime of your equipment.

 

Three Easy Steps

1. Buy a new, high-efficiency qualifying furnace or boiler from a heating and cooling contractor.
2. Get the 2012 Heating Rebate application from your heating and cooling contractor, or download the form here.
3. Complete and mail in the rebate application. Make sure to attach your dated invoice.

Ground Source Heat Pump rebates from Xcel Energy make purchasing a high-efficiency ground source heat pump more affordable. Xcel Energy residential electric customers are eligible for a rebate of $150 per ton (5 ton limit) for ENERGY STAR® qualifed, closed-loop systems, with a minimum 14.1 EER rating.

The High Efficiency Cooling Rebate program is designed to generate maximum energy savings for you by focusing on proper installation practices. Bigger is not always better - participating Xcel Energy contractors are expected to size your new high-efficiency cooling equipment appropriately to your home's needs. You deserve the optimal energy efficiency your new air conditioner was designed to provide, and our participating registered contractors can help you do this by performing a quality installation. In addition, you can receive up to $400 cash back!

3. Select one of these contractors to install your system and test it at start-up. Only registered contractors have rebate applications.

Once you've completed your Home Energy Audit, you can earn home energy rebates for making the recommended changes. You can earn rebates up to $1200 for:

• Air sealing and weather-stripping
• Attic insulation and bypass sealing
• Central AC
• High-efficiency lighting
• Wall insulation
• ENERGY STAR® set-back thermostat
• High-efficiency furnaces
• Tankless water heaters
• Power vented water heaters
• ENERGY STAR® refrigerator, dishwasher and clothes washer

Take a whole-house approach to energy savings and home improvements. This program is ideal for homeowners who need to make multiple improvements to their home. To participate, you must:
• Receive residential natural gas and electric service from Xcel Energy
• Complete a Standard Home Energy Audit with Blower Door ($60 fee) or Infrared Audit ($100 fee) through Xcel Energy
• Use an install contractor from our Participating Install Contractor List
• Implement at least five improvements - three mandatory and two optional
• Complete final inspection and provide all receipts to our audit partners

Note: If you have already earned a rebate through a different Xcel Energy program, you cannot receive another rebate for the same improvement.

About the Program

Our Insulation Rebate program offers our natural gas heating customers and our electric heating customers in Minnesota rebate incentives for installing insulation in their homes, including insulation for attics and walls, air sealing and weather-stripping of residential homes. Rebates equal to 20% of the total cost of the insulation and installation up to a maximum rebate of $300.

In 2011, the average fuel cost credit was $2.62, making the net charge for Windsource $0.91 per block.
