Energy Efficiency Ground Source Heat Pumps

Ground Source Heat Pump rebates from Xcel Energy make purchasing a high-efficiency ground source heat pump more affordable. Ground source heat pumps that earn the ENERGY STAR® rating use about 30% less energy than a standard ground source heat pump. Xcel Energy residential electric customers are eligible for a rebate of $300 per ton (5 ton limit) for ENERGY STAR® qualified, closed-loop systems, with a minimum 3.3 COP and 14.1 EER rating. 

 

Eligibility
This program is available to South Dakota Xcel Energy customers with electrically heated homes where natural gas is not available. Customers will be required to install the Ground Source Heat Pump for both space heating and space cooling. The application deadline for units installed between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012 is July 31, 2013.

How to get started

  1. Learn more about the program requirements

  2. Search for registered contractors.

  3. Select one of these contractors to install your system. Then just sit back, enjoy the cool air and the rebate money!

  4. Please be sure to keep a copy of your rebate application for your records.

Contractors must verify equipment is eligible for a home energy rebate. Xcel Energy does not guarantee the contractors' expertise or reputation; does not warranty any of the products or services installed; or promote the use of one contractor over the other. Xcel Energy shall have no liability for contractors' work or negligence. Xcel Energy will not rebate equipment that has been mislabeled or misrepresented. Participants are not eligible to receive a rebate for an improvement previously earned through a different Xcel Energy rebate program.

Energy Efficiency Saver's Switch

It's like taking money out of our pocket and putting it in yours.

It's a very cool program from Xcel Energy designed to manage air conditioning use during the hottest days of the year! Earn $15 off easily. All you do is sign up below...you'll receive 15% off your electric energy charges on your June through September energy bills each year you participate! We'll do everything. Once you sign up, Xcel Energy will attach a small device to your central AC unit outside of your house that cycles it on and off for short intervals during the hottest days. You don't even need to be home for the installation.

Your furnace fan stays on, circulating cooled air; so chances are you won't even notice Saver's Switch working. But if you feel your comfort has been compromised, you are free to opt out of the program at any time.
